Join ESN Lund for our monthly hike!
After the success of our meditation breaks during the last Exploring Skåneleden, we have decided to make it a continuous part of our monthly hike: at some point during the hike we will dedicate 1- or 15 minutes to silent meditation. It is not mandatory, but we would love everyone to try to disconnect from the hectic and stressful student life while surrounded by Sweden's natural beauty.
Today the coastal area of Barsebäck juts out into the sea, but 5,000 years ago the area was an archipelago (a chain of islands). On these islands people built their homes and buried their dead. We will explore inside on eof the most well-preserved burial cairn from this period: Gillhög. Don't forget to bring a torch!
Paths carry you through a long, sandy beach with long lines of tangled seaweed and sand reefs offshore at low tide. The shallow beach bed stretches inland until it meets the shoreline of the ancient Littorina Sea - a sea bank formed some 5,000 - 7,000 years ago. There are occasional stands of oak and beech, and small ponds. A viewing tower and flower-rich coastal meadow.
When: 9th February from 08:30 to 15:30.
Where: From Barsebäck to Saxtorp. Meeting point is Lund C.
Price: Free (transportation not included - 60sek)
